The lives of 23 families in Negeri Sembilan changed for the better when they were provided with new comfortable homes early this year. The houses were either refurbished or repaired as part of Bank Islam Projek Bantuan Rumah (Housing Aid Project).
“Projek Bantuan Rumah Bank Islam was initiated in 2008 as an annual program and, to date, more than 200 homes have been successfully built and repaired. The Bank also provides basic necessities worth more than RM6mil to these underprivileged families,” said Bank Islam Managing Director Datuk Seri Zukri Samat during the handing-over of house keys ceremony. The flagship initiative was organised in cooperation with Majlis Agama Islam Negeri Sembilan (MAINS), Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (JKM), Jabatan Kemajuan Orang Asli (JAKOA) and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM).
Apart from that, Bank Islam also distributed zakat and school items such as stationeries and bags to 100 underprivileged students during the ceremony which was officiated by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
