At the annual CSR Malaysia Awards 2017 luncheon event held at Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur on the 20th of July, outstanding Malaysian corporations that have excelled tremendously in the socio-economic transformation of Malaysia were honoured. The event served as a platform to celebrate outstanding achievers and inspiring corporations for their efforts to create a better Malaysia through their Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. The recipients of these awards have been selected by a panel of high caliber judges representing corporate and social bodies.
Malaysian companies; listed and private were honored, recognized and awarded for going the extra mile to reach out to needy communities and to engage in sustainability endeavours in efforts to create a better Malaysia.
Among the recipients of this year’s awards are RHB Bank, Exim Bank, AirAsia X, AirAsia, Axiata, Nestle, 7-Eleven, Bank Islam, Axa Affin, Heineken, KPMG, LBS Bina Bhd and Ivory Properties Bhd.
More often than not, the focus on recognition for CSR excellence has not been sufficient. It must be remembered that private sector companies are the driving force of the nation’s economy and they are well placed to carry out meaningful and significant CSR activities. Receiving the CSR Malaysia Awards from Yang Berhormat Datuk Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development was very relevant and appropriate as the Ministry and the government will be able to take note of the individuals and corporations that champion Social Responsibility initiatives.
Corporate Malaysia’s aspirations go beyond mere profits or building world class buildings or infrastructures. These caring organizations promote sustainable economies by helping marginalized communities and making environmental efforts to preserve our heritage for future generations. The event not only celebrated the CSR achievements of these outstanding corporations but also served as a source of inspiration for other corporations to emulate them.
CSR Malaysia Awards 2017 was organized by CSR Malaysia magazine, a free publication that shares the unwavering commitment of corporations in Malaysia with a vision and mission to create awareness on the growing need to lend a helping hand to make the world a better place for all. The event was supported by Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development.
Also present at the event were Datuk R. Rajendran, CEO of CSR Malaysia and Lee Seng Chee, Managing Editor of CSR Malaysia.
