Refugees have skills, hopes and dreams. Risking everything to chart a new life, they deserve a second chance. Ideas Academy’s goal is to give every teen, aged 12 to 18 years old, a strong foundation in secondary education based on the Cambridge IGCSE curriculum, so that they can grow up becoming responsible, confident and compassionate citizens of the world.

Ideas Academy was officially launched in 2014. It began as a small classroom with just 24 students but has since grown to a school building catering to over 150 students in 2018. Ideas Academy is located in Pudu, an area where many refugees and stateless people live. There is a library with a large open reading area, IT room and eight classrooms. The learning centre has a growing waiting list and can in fact accommodate 300 students. To make this happen more classrooms need to be built and more teachers need to be hired.
