FWD Takaful Berhad (“FWD Takaful”) has added an additional RM5 million into its MOH FWD MY Heroes Fund to support the Ministry of Health (“MOH”) frontliners in their continued battle against the COVID-19 pandemic, increasing the total of the special fund to RM10 million from the initial allocation of RM5 million last year.
Salim Majid Zain, FWD Takaful’s Chief Executive Officer, said, “Our frontliners are facing a tougher challenge this year with the significant rise of COVID-19 cases in recent months. We want to do what we can to step forward and continue providing practical support to frontliners and their immediate family through our MOH FWD MY Heroes Fund.”
Launched in April last year, FWD Takaful established the special fund to provide nine months complimentary benefits to cover death and hospitalisation for MOH frontliners from 1 April 2020 until 31 December 2020 or until the special fund is exhausted, whichever is earlier. FWD Takaful is now replenishing the fund with an additional RM5 million and will be extending the benefits to 31 December 2021 or until the special fund is exhausted, whichever is earlier. The fund provides Takaful coverage as follows:
MOH frontliners who are eligible to claim from the fund refer to all MOH staff including doctors, nurses, paramedics, laboratory technicians, ambulance workers and hospital administration staff who have contracted COVID-19 while in the line of official duty. The fund also covers immediate family members of MOH staff including their spouse, parents and children up to the age of 25 years old, including legally adopted children.
