Now in its 9th edition, CSR Malaysia Carnival 2024 held in conjunction with Sustainability & CSR Malaysia Awards 2024 became a platform for 20 non-governmental organizations (NGO) that champion different causes for the underprivileged to engage with corporate companies and citizens from diverse backgrounds.
Held annually, the carnival is the country’s biggest carnival that celebrates NGOs and their causes, aiming to bridge NGOs with prospective corporate companies and their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes. The carnival gives an opportunity for all NGOs invited to showcase their causes and projects, connecting them with corporate companies who are looking to give back to the society while prioritizing sustainability and the environment in any decision-making, making it a unique carnival experience for those who are involved.

The NGOs involved this year were Agathians Shelter, Great Heart Charity, Play Unlimited (in collaboration with Toy Libraries Malaysia), Second Chance Animal Society, Halokids Therapy Centre, Shelter Home for Children, Gem & Bread, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Lifelink Seribu Kasih, OrphanCare Foundation, All Women’s Action Society (AWAM), Persatuan Kesejahteraan Rakyat Malaysia (PKRM), Coffee for Good, Seed Foundation Malaysia, Persatuan Insan Istimewa IMC Selangor, People Systems Consultancy, Rumah Charis, Persatuan Usahawan Inklusif, IDEAS Autism Centre, Pertubuhan Jiwa Amal Malaysia (JIWA) and Selangor Youth Community (SAY).

Among the distinguished guests at the carnival were Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, YB Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, the Chairman of CSR Malaysia, Dato’ R. Rajendran, and Mr. Lee Seng Chee, CSR Malaysia’s Co-Chairman and Managing Editor. Certificates were presented to the NGOs by Dato’ R. Rajendran and Mr. Lee Seng Chee as tokens of appreciation.

CSR Malaysia also contributed to 5 selected NGOs by sponsoring transportations and complimentary tickets to AR Rahman Live in Kuala Lumpur 2024 concert held on 27th July at the iconic Bukit Jalil National Stadium. The NGOs who attended the concert were Monfort Boys Town, Persatuan Kebajikan Warga Tua Dan Kanak-Kanak Wilayah Persekutuan, Persatuan Insan Istimewa IMC Selangor, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary Kuala Lumpur and Karunai Illam Welfare Home. This initiative by CSR Malaysia had given the attendees a chance to witness a musical maestro who had made his mark in the entertainment history while they immerse themselves in the joy of listening to timeless tunes by the multi award-winning musical genius. It is hoped that the exposure to the entertainment industry will shape the children attending to be more creative and overall well-rounded.

Learning from the experience and success of the recent carnival, CSR Malaysia hopes to connect more NGOs with corporate companies in the future, closing the gaps between corporates and the needy while benefitting Malaysia and the citizens as a whole.
