Federal Express Corporation, one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards 2024’ in the category of ‘Best in Community Engagement & Green Initiatives’. This is the first time FedEx has received this award in this category after winning three consecutive times in the category of ‘Best in Community Engagement Support’.
The recognition is for the company’s CSR initiatives. FedEx demonstrated its deep commitment to nurturing young talent and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset through the FedEx/Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge (FedEx/JA ITC), which has benefited more than 9,200 students across Malaysia over a period of 16 years since its inception in 2008. This award also acknowledges FedEx’s strong contribution to sustainability, including its support for Treat Every Environment Special (TrEES) and its urban community garden in the Klang Valley, which provides fresh vegetables to disadvantaged Malaysian communities. These initiatives are part of FedEx Cares, a global community engagement programme underpinned by its cultural value of “Committing to Do Good”.
Additionally, FedEx volunteers came together to plant 100 tree seedlings in Desaru, Johor Bahru, and Balik Pulau, Penang, as part of the company’s 30th anniversary in Malaysia and to express gratitude for being welcomed as a member of the community over the past three decades.
“We are humbled to receive this recognition as an acknowledgment of our continuous commitment to nurturing the next generation and our efforts towards environmental stewardship in Malaysia,” said Woon Tien Long, Managing Director, FedEx Malaysia. “This award goes to the FedEx team for their unwavering commitment and for going above and beyond to support the communities where we live and work. We continue to prioritise sustainability as a way to deliver a better future in Malaysia and around the globe.”
The ‘Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards’ recognise the unwavering commitment of corporations with the vision to create a positive impact through corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives to facilitate socio-economic transformation in Malaysia. The nominees were assessed on areas such as clear CSR purpose and goals, programme impact, frequency of CSR events, contribution amounts, transparency in reporting CSR initiatives, creative implementation, strength of the CSR team, and the sincerity and effectiveness of each initiative.
