Yayasan Food Bank Malaysia (YFBM) has launched the YFBM’s Flood Relief Team. The launching ceremony was officiated by Her Highness Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of YFBM, witnessed by YFBM volunteers and staff. The team has done volunteer work in several areas affected by the floods, namely in Bukit Lanchong, Taman Sri Muda, Bukit Changgang and Hulu Langat. The team will continue this relief mission to Mentakab and Temerloh soon.
Through the inaugural speech by Her Highness Tengku Datin Paduka Setia Zatashah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, through this Post-Flood Relief Mission, YFBM volunteers can help in terms of cleaning flood victims’ houses, suraus and mosques as well as schools and kindergartens. The YFBM team also assisted with basic household equipment such as mattresses, pillows, cupboards, kitchen utensils as well as repairing damaged houses. YFBM hopes that these people can wake up to live a life like after facing the pain of the flood disaster, he added.

Commenting on the role of the post-flood relief team, Encik Johan Halid, Chief Operating Officer of YFBM said, “For information, after the major floods in the Klang Valley, YFBM continues to channel aid in the form of basic food supplies and food ready to eat at the Pusat Pemindahan Sementara (PPS) in Bukit Lanchong, Taman Sri Muda, Bukit Changgang and Hulu Langat. This time YFBM received sponsorship from two corporate companies, CIMB Foundation and Xiaomi Malaysia. YFBM welcomes more corporate companies to continue to work together so that this initiative can be further expanded to all areas affected by the flood disaster.
Apart from the launch of the Flood Relief team, YFBM today also presented a donation of 50 boxes of basic food to the residents of Taman Bukit Mewah, Kajang who were also affected by the floods.

Commenting on its role as the coordinator who plans and conducts the collection of surplus food nationwide through the Food Bank initiative, YFBM also hoped that more Food Bank Heroes from manufacturers, food wholesalers, hypermarkets, hotel industry and corporate companies would come forward to help this pure endeavour.
To date, YFBM has implemented strategic collaborations with LOTUS, Nestle, AEON BIG, Econsave, NSK Wholesale Supermarket and various other companies. During the establishment of YBFM, more than one (1) million recipients benefited.
