Dec 18, 2024 | CSR Stories

In the spirit of the annual Season of Giving, Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF), the philanthropic arm of premier health and wellness company, community and platform, Herbalife, is proud to announce grants totalling RM1 million (USD 225,000) to support six charity homes across Malaysia and Singapore for the 2024 – 2025 term. This grant is part of the Casa Herbalife Program, a global initiative by HFF that collaborates with community organizations to provide nutritious meals, educational resources, and safe environments for children and underserved communities.

The five nonprofit partners in Malaysia are Good Samaritan Home, Hope Mission Society, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Amitabha, Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim / Miskin Rukaiyah, and Yayasan Chow Kit, and one in Singapore, Children’s Wishing Well.

Steven Chin, Senior Director/General Manager of Herbalife Malaysia and Singapore, commented, “The Herbalife Family Foundation is dedicated to nurturing communities in need by ensuring that children have access to proper nutrition and life-changing opportunities. Every child deserves to grow up in a healthy, supportive environment and it is our privilege to work with these remarkable organisations to create meaningful change. Together, we can build a brighter future for children in Malaysia and Singapore.”

The Casa Herbalife Program is made possible by the generosity and commitment of Herbalife’s independent distributors and employees. Their dedication has fueled HFF’s impactful work, directly supporting communities and transforming lives.

“We are deeply grateful for the unwavering dedication of Herbalife’s independent distributors and employees. Their passion and hard work ignite meaningful, lasting change in the communities we call home,” he further added.

In Malaysia, HFF will be allocating approximately RM177,800 (USD 40,000) to Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim / Miskin Rukaiyah, for several key initiatives aimed at improving the children’s wellbeing and sustainability. A significant portion of the grant will be used to construct a hydroponic planting facility, which will provide the home with a sustainable supply of fresh produce. The facility will not only enhance the children’s access to nutritious food but also serve as a platform to teach them valuable agricultural skills. The grant will also cover food subsidies, kitchen renovations, and general operating expenses, such as electricity and water bills. Additionally, nutrition education classes will be introduced, empowering children to make informed dietary choices and lead healthier lives.

Dr. Abdul Rahman B. Kurais, Chairman of Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Yatim / Miskin Rukaiyah, shared, “HFF’s unwavering generosity since 2018 has enabled us to ensure that our children have access to proper nutritious food and a nurturing environment. The new hydroponic planting facility will teach them invaluable skills while providing fresh produce, and the additional support will enable us to foster long-term well-being for every child in our care.”

In Singapore, the RM222,300 (USD 50,000) grant supports Children’s Wishing Well in its mission to address the nutritional and developmental needs of over 300 children from low-income families. Two signature programs, the Hot Lunch Programme and the FRESH Grocery Shopping Programme, will directly benefit from this funding.

Joanna Tan, CEO of Children’s Wishing Well emphasised the importance of the partnership, “Hunger and malnutrition can impact any community, even in developed countries like Singapore, where abundance and waste often coexist. HFF’s continued funding allows us to run impactful programs like FRESH Grocery Shopping and Hot Lunch, which not only provide nutritious meals but also empower children with essential life skills. This latest round of funding will help provide over 4,000 cooked meals and support more than 300 children with fresh groceries. We are honoured to have partnered with HFF since 2018.”

These grants are a testament to HFF’s unwavering commitment to creating healthier, more inclusive communities. By addressing the nutritional needs and holistic development of children, HFF reinforces its mission to ensure no child is left behind.

Globally, the Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF) has awarded $5 million in grants to 164 nonprofit organizations across 59 countries and territories for the 2024 – 2025 term. A complete list of the 2024 grant recipients can be found here.
