Empowering Youth Through Education: Touch ‘n Go Group’s First School Adoption Initiative

Feb 14, 2025 | CSR Stories

Touch ‘n Go Group (“Touch ‘n Go”) believes that education is the foundation for building brighter futures that benefit every individual in the community. As part of their commitment to giving back, they took a significant step toward empowering youth, particularly from underserved communities, by launching their first-ever school adoption initiative in collaboration with PINTAR Foundation. This transformative three-year journey with SMK Seri Selayang is designed to equip students with critical skills that will help them navigate and overcome life’s challenges and opportunities.

Focusing on two key programmes, Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp and Financial Literacy, the school adoption initiative is aimed at bridging educational gaps and is designed to inspire a culture of innovation, independence, and resilience among underserved youth.

Cultivating Innovation: Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp

Tailored to Form 3 and Form 4 students, the Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp introduces them to the exciting world of entrepreneurship. Through hands-on modules, students are exposed to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, which involves thinking outside the box, creating a business that stands out from others, and calculating potential risks. By learning how to identify opportunities, manage resources, and start a small enterprise, students gain the confidence and knowledge needed to navigate the world of business and make an impact within their community.

The highlight of the programme was the Business Pitch and Competition, where students presented their ideas to a panel of judges. One standout idea was a sustainable pizza box design, which earned praise for its creativity, simplicity, and environmental consciousness. Beyond the innovative concepts, the competition highlighted the students’ growth in confidence and their ability to overcome stage fright.

In 2024, the Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp concluded four sessions, impacting an average of 57 students throughout the programme. Each module was built upon the previous one, providing students with a comprehensive and practical introduction to entrepreneurial thinking.

Building Financial Confidence: Financial Literacy Programme

As they move into 2025, Touch ‘n Go is preparing to launch the Financial Literacy Programme, the second phase of the school adoption programme. Realising that it’s crucial to build financial literacy awareness early, this initiative will target 100 students from Form 1 to Form 4 to teach them about the fundamentals of budgeting, saving, managing expenses, and making responsible financial decisions.

Through interactive modules, students will learn how to develop healthy financial habits in managing their personal finances. By laying this foundation early, Touch ‘n Go aims to empower students with the skills required to make informed decisions now and in the future that can reduce anxiety and enhance their financial confidence.

Beyond Education: A Commitment to Holistic Development

At Touch ‘n Go, they believe that education extends beyond the classroom. Through the school adoption programme, via initiatives like the Youth Entrepreneurship Bootcamp and Financial Literacy, the company aims for more than just imparting knowledge. They hope to inspire the students to take ownership of their futures, participate actively in their communities, and realise their full potential. As they continue this journey with SMK Seri Selayang, in collaboration with PINTAR Foundation, their focus remains steadfast in building pathways to brighter futures, one student at a time.
