DRB-HICOM EZ-Drive Sdn Bhd (Avis Malaysia), a subsidiary of EON Berhad, carried out its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, “Projek AMAL by Avis”, at Pusat Jagaan Anak Yatim Ulin Nuha, Klang on 1st November 2025.
Guided by four key pillars of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) SDG 1: No Poverty, SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities, the initiative reflects EON Berhad’s commitment to creating meaningful social impact while fostering a strong culture of volunteerism among its employees.
The programme was designed to holistically support the well-being and development of the children residing at the orphanage. By addressing both physical living conditions and educational exposure, the initiative aimed to create a lasting, positive change.

With the participation of 40 dedicated Avis Malaysia volunteers and 26 kids (7 to 17-year-olds) from the orphanage, the one-day programme combined infrastructure upliftment with educational exposure to enrich both the environment and learning experiences of the children.
To ensure effective execution, volunteers were divided into two teams. The first group focused on an On-Site Renovation and Clean-Up Initiative within the orphanage compound. This included clearing unwanted items, improving the layout of shared spaces and repainting the walls especially around the musolla to create a more calming and uplifting environment for worship and daily activities.

Volunteers also donated and assembled new furniture, including student lockers, shelves, toilet racks, as well as new bedsheets, pillows and curtains to enhance the sleeping conditions for the children. Essential repairs, such as fixing plumbing and toilet facilities, were also carried out to improve hygiene, safety and comfort.
These collective efforts resulted in a cleaner, brighter and more organised home environment that contributes positively to the children’s well-being.

Meanwhile, the second group accompanied the children on a full-day educational excursion designed to broaden their horizons beyond the classroom. The day began with a visit to Aquaria KLCC, where the children explored marine life and enjoyed close encounters with sharks, manta rays and a variety of underwater species. The experience was made especially memorable by the iconic Aquaria Tunnel, offering an immersive 360-degree view beneath the sea.
After lunch, the learning journey continued at Petrosains Discovery Centre, where the children participated in hands-on science activities across 14 interactive checkpoints. Highlights included exploring the evolution of energy at the Energy Capsule, understanding oil and gas processes at The Platform, watching an engaging 3D film and experiencing SPEED, a gallery inspired by Formula 1 technology. These interactive experiences exposed the children to science, innovation and potential career pathways, igniting excitement and curiosity throughout the visit.

Upon returning to Pusat Jagaan Anak Yatim Ulin Nuha, the children were pleasantly surprised by their newly refreshed living space. Their smiles and expressions of gratitude reflected the positive impact achieved within a single day. To further encourage healthy and active lifestyles, Avis Malaysia also donated sports equipment, including footballs and badminton equipment.
Through “Projek AMAL by Avis”, EON Berhad and Avis Malaysia reaffirm their commitment to supporting vulnerable communities while contributing towards a more inclusive and sustainable future.
