LAGENDA ADDRESSES B40 PLIGHT THROUGH RELIEF EFFORTS WORTH RM140,000

Mar 3, 2021 | CSR Stories

Lagenda Properties, through its COVID-centric corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, recently reached out to the community in their Bandar Baru Setia Awan Perdana (BBSAP) development based in Sitiawan, Perak, a project focused on affordable housing.

Recent developments indicate that Malaysia is expected to return to positive growth later this year, with the vaccine’s arrival and planned immunisations. However, the pandemic has evidently presented growing financial strain, hard-hitting many sectors, affecting the industries in which the residents work in. To address this, the affordable homes developer has provided various aid totalling close to RM140,000 since the beginning of the pandemic.

“The majority of the residents fall within the B40 segment, with many households earning below RM2,600 even before being hit by the pandemic. Situations were challenging for many families and the continuation of the pandemic was not easy for the community, which is why we wanted to play our part to lighten their burdens,” said Dato’ Jimmy Doh Jee Ming, Managing Director, Lagenda Properties.

“The government has pledged support for the B40 segment through initiatives such as the RM1.2 billion allocation in the Budget 2021. Whilst it goes towards developing low-income households, private companies like ours must work hand-in-hand to contribute to the efforts,” he adds.

With COVID persisting on to 2021, Lagenda continues to provide essentials to affected communities in Bandar Baru Setia Awan Perdana. Recently, RM40,000 worth of daily essentials was distributed across 700 households. The developer is committed to continue such efforts throughout the year to aid the affected.

This is a sustained effort from the 2020 CSR initiative, where Lagenda Properties provided RM100,000 in food aid and student support for the communities in both Manjung and Teluk Intan. They had set out to aid frontliners, school children and families in need, all while collaborating with the Social Welfare Department, City Council and the Resident Association of the township.

“Whilst these efforts were kick-started with the pandemic last year, we are eager to see continuity with these CSR efforts, and to be able to aid more of those in need,” Dato’ Jimmy Doh further added.

Lagenda is focused on catering for the affordable home segment and has championed the B40 community for over 31 years. Their experience has allowed them to sell up to 90% of the townships, pricing it below RM200,000 complete with lifestyle facilities.
