Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) brought festive cheer to 83 senior citizens at three (3) welfare homes this Chinese New Year through its Sesama Mara Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Through this initiative, Air Selangor donated basic neccesities such as food, clothes, basic furniture and household items to En Yuan Old Folk Home Kebajikan Orang-orang Tua Bahagia Selangor, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Orang Tua Rahmat Semenyih and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Loa Yin Kah Kepong.
In addition to providing assistance and visiting the welfare homes, the Hydro Heroes volunteers consisting of 15 Air Selangor employees also entertained the residents of En Yuan Old Folk Home Kebajikan Orang-orang Tua Bahagia Selangor with ‘yee sang’ tossing, the distribution of ‘angpow’ packets and a lion dance performance to further enliven their Chinese New Year celebrations.

Elina Baseri, Head of Corporate Communication of Air Selangor said, “This initiative is part of Air Selangor’s commitment to contribute to the underserved communities. We believe that these senior citizens deserved to be celebrated with care and love, especially during meaningful festive seasons such as Chinese New Year.”
Stanley Yap, the head caretaker of En Yuan Old Folk Home Kebajikan Orang-orang Tua Bahagia Selangor said, “Thank you to Air Selangor for the noble efforts in helping our welfare home. For the elderly residents who do not have the opportunity to celebrate with their families, this support is not just a necessity, but a truly meaningful gesture of care and remembrance. The presence of this aid to some extent cures the feeling of loneliness and brings much joy.”

It is hoped that the small donation handed out brings some cheer to all the residents in these welfare homes and make their Chinese New Year celebrations livelier this time.
Also, under the umbrella of Sesama Mara, since 2021, festive celebration programs have been held at 66 welfare homes, encompassing orphanages, home for the elderly, homes for people with disabilities and B40 communities in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
Other initiatives under Sesama Mara include the Box of Hope program, digital education assistance and also the Hydro Heroes volunteer program which is a grassroots initiative that aims to help the communities in need as well as strengthen relationships with various layers of society such as local communities, residents’ associations, non-governmental organisations (NGO) and stakeholders.
