In a collaborative endeavour with the Johor Outreach & Community Centre (JOCC) aimed at improving healthcare services for refugees in Malaysia, volunteers from Biocon Malaysia participated in some of its Mobile Clinic initiatives. Endorsed by UNHCR Malaysia, this partnership aims to offer essential aid to refugees residing in Johor. Volunteers contributed by assisting in administrative duties and supporting healthcare professionals during health assessments for individuals requiring medical attention. Participating in JOCC’s commendable initiative, which fosters a secure environment for refugees to convene and engage in community-driven projects for development and protection, was truly gratifying.

FOR TOMORROW
As part of Biocon’s initiative to support children in developing their social and communication abilities while encouraging healthy and active lifestyles, volunteers from Biocon Malaysia consistently visit Berkat Children’s Home to engage the children in sports-related activities. By engaging in team sports, children can acquire essential life skills such as teamwork and persistence, enhancing their confidence and instilling values of fairness, all within a fun and engaging environment. It is imperative to acknowledge the crucial role that the home plays as a refuge for children experiencing challenges, providing vital resources and assistance to nurture their development and welfare.

FOR THEIR IMPROVEMENT
The members of the Biocon Volunteer Community were honoured to engage in a community service initiative at Kampung Bakar Arang, Pekan Nenas, during Hari Malaysia 2023. Collaborating with the local residents, volunteers partook in a gotong-royong session, contributing to the painting of the community hall and the planting of trees in its vicinity. Such community enhancement endeavours play a significant role in improving the quality of life for those in our surrounding communities.
