Duopharma Biotech Berhad, a leading pharmaceutical company in Malaysia, is committed to its vision of “Providing Smarter Solutions for a Healthier Life.” This commitment extends to addressing critical issues such as childhood nutrition, an area of growing concern in Malaysia. While their vitamin brand CHAMPS® provides a convenient solution for parents seeking to supplement their children’s nutritional intake, Duopharma Biotech firmly advocates for a balanced diet as the cornerstone of good health for all Malaysians, particularly the younger generation.
In line with this commitment, Duopharma Biotech spearheaded the CHAMPS® Kempen Pemakanan Seimbang 2023, a nationwide campaign aimed at promoting balanced nutrition among schoolchildren. This initiative was co-organised with Sin Chew Media Corporation and the National Union of School Heads Malaysia (Kesatuan Kebangsaan Guru-Guru Besar Malaysia), reflecting a collaborative effort to address malnutrition among approximately 5.6 million schoolchildren in the country. The campaign also aligns with the 2022-2030 National Strategic Plan to Combat the Double Burden of Malnutrition Among Children in Malaysia, underscoring its significance on a national scale.
As the main sponsor, Duopharma Biotech’s flagship nutrition brand, CHAMPS®, played a pivotal role in the campaign. The initiative targeted 1,302 national-type Chinese primary schools (SJKC) across Malaysia, reaching out to students with essential messages on balanced nutrition. A key component of the campaign involved visits to 22 selected primary schools, where nutritionists from the Ministry of Health, accompanied by the entertaining magician Uncle Fishy, conducted interactive sessions on healthy eating. These sessions were designed to engage young minds, making the concept of balanced nutrition both fun and accessible.
The campaign’s impact extended beyond the school visits. On-ground outreach activities at over 100 SJKC schools provided approximately 20,000 students with educational materials on balanced diets, along with samples of CHAMPS® vitamin products. The campaign also leveraged digital platforms, printed materials, and coverage from Sin Chew Daily, Bintang Sin Chew (小星星), Xing Xing Xue Tang (星星学堂), and Sinchew-i.com, collectively reaching an estimated audience of 100,000 SJKC students nationwide. This broad engagement ensured that the message of balanced nutrition resonated with students and parents alike, fostering a culture of healthy eating habits.
To further deepen students’ understanding of balanced nutrition, the campaign featured a drawing and writing competition. Lower Primary students (Standard 1 to 3) were invited to draw a picture of “My Best Nutritious Breakfast” and write a short 80-word essay explaining their choice of foods. Upper Primary students (Standard 4 to 6) were challenged to complete a creative essay of 1,200 to 1,500 words on the theme of balanced nutrition. The response was overwhelming, with 1,665 entries from Lower Primary students and 1,138 entries from Upper Primary students. The competition offered a total of RM12,500 in cash prizes across both categories, further motivating students to engage with the important topic of nutrition.

The culmination of the CHAMPS® Kempen Pemakanan Seimbang 2023 was marked by a prize presentation ceremony, which was graced by En Abdul Muie Ngah, Director of the Day School Management Division of the Ministry of Education. This event celebrated the successful completion of the campaign and recognised the efforts of students who actively participated in the initiative.
Through the CHAMPS® Kempen Pemakanan Seimbang 2023, Duopharma Biotech Berhad has reinforced its commitment to improving childhood nutrition in Malaysia. By promoting a balanced diet and educating young minds on the importance of healthy eating, Duopharma aims to lay the foundation for a healthier future for the next generation.
