Lending A Helping Hand to People and Animals Alike

Nov 20, 2020 | CSR Stories

This year, Smart Financing is lending a helping hand to Zoo Negara while Swissen Trading & Transport and Great Heart set a platform to help the underprivileged.

Smart Financing has extended their CSR initiatives to not only people, but also to the animals in Zoo Negara.

In an interview with CSR Malaysia, Gary Chua, CEO of Smart Financing revealed that they have recently started an initiative to support the national zoo, which are currently low on funds.

“We are currently liaising with the national zoo to see what kind of support we can give and we are hoping that it will be a long-term initiative for years to come.

“It is important to sustain the animals in the zoo so that our future generation get to see these animals.” Chua said during the Sustainability and CSR Malaysia Awards 2020.

For Angeline Leong, Managing Director of Swissen Trading & Transport, she explains that by doing CSR, they are setting a platform for the public, which in return will benefit the public.

“We do CSR because we really wanted to help people who are in need.” Leong said in an interview with CSR Malaysia.

According to Leong, their CSR programmes includes donating to dialysis centres as well as helping dilapidated schools in the rural areas as they are the most vulnerable and may be neglected.

“There’s no particular aim in our company’s CSR initiatives but they are to help the really needy,” she added.

On the other hand, Great Heart Charity has been a platform to try to link up underprivileged group to get resources from volunteers as well as donors.

Yuen Juin Hoe, Vice President of Great Heart Charity said that while orphanages and old folks’ homes have the avenue to reach out to the public for assistance via social media and website, the underprivileged, especially the B40 groups do not have the means.

“That is where we step in to help the B40 group, we try to bridge the gap.”

“We hope that we will be able to motivate the society in making charitable giving a part of everyone’s lives.” Yuen said.
