MARRYBROWN REACHED OUT TO WOMEN IN NEED FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2021

Mar 14, 2021 | CSR Stories

For decades now, the world has been striving to nurture a gender-equal environment where opportunities are open to all, regardless of their gender and sexuality. However, while we are fighting to get everyone on an equal footing be it in the workplace or home, there are those who do not have the means nor the option to create a better life, let alone having any opportunities to begin with. For this recent International Women’s Day, Marrybrown Malaysia reaffirms its unwavering commitment to gender equality and empowerment by donating over 1,500 sets of Marrybrown meals to the residents of various organisations, namely Women of Will, Women Aid Organisations, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Darul Wardah Selangor, Ti-Ratana Welfare Society Malaysia, PSPK Women Development Centre and Grace Home Klang – as a statement not to forget those who are in a vulnerable position.

With this belief that Women Boleh, largest homegrown Halal fast-food chain, Marrybrown reached out to a few organisations who are helping the less fortunate and vulnerable women in society – providing a shelter for them to protect themselves and giving them the needed support. Not everyone in life is given the same opportunity with some facing unfortunate circumstances along the way. Fully aware of this scenario, Marrybrown aims to let these women know that even if odds are not in their favour, they are not alone in this world fighting this battle themselves.

“We salute these organisations that are providing a sanctuary for these women without any judgement while creating an opportunity for them to build themselves back up once more. We want to play our part to help these organisations shelter the less fortunate – to get to a position where they can stand on their own, and we know this can only work if we work together and build each other up,” exclaimed Datin Nancy Liew, Managing Director of Marrybrown.

Since its establishment more than 40 years ago, Marrybrown has always advocated a bold vision for ensuring that gender equality and women’s empowerment come strong within the company itself, especially in having a gender-neutral team regardless if they are management or the onground team. Marrybrown believes by providing an equal opportunity for all to learn, to grow in the business and be the leaders they are, the results of the establishment will be well-rounded and positivity will constantly flourish in all their initiatives.

“As a woman, when I first co-founded this business, I myself faced many hurdles. But with resilience, dedication and a supporting team that promotes gender equality, with each and everyone having the equal amount of resources and opportunities, we are able to see better results internally and externally, at the same time bringing all of Marrybrown’s stakeholders the varied goodness that we are well-known for globally,” added Datin Nancy.

Marrybrown currently serves millions of customers in more than 500 restaurants across 16 countries with the objective of delivering the highest standard of quality, service, cleanliness and value for your perfect dining experience.
