NCT Alliance: From the Road to NCT to the Road to Paris

Aug 15, 2025 | CSR Stories

NCT Alliance held its inaugural Road to NCT 2024 Junior Badminton Championship (Road to NCT) in collaboration with Petaling Badminton Club (PBC). Road to NCT aims to nurture the next generation of badminton talent in Malaysia, supporting the community by providing a platform for young athletes to compete, promoting healthy living and fostering a strong spirit of sportsmanship, while paving the way for future champions.

Road to NCT spanned five states, namely Melaka, Pahang, Selangor, Sabah and Penang, culminating in the Grand Prix Final in Kuala Lumpur where champions from each state competed for the ultimate title. The championship drew over 3,500 young athletes aged 9 to 15.

Children from Rumah Victory performed a symbolic torch relay as part of the Road to NCT Grand Prix Final ceremony.

A special coaching clinic was held during the fourth station in Sabah, featuring NCT Alliance’s Brand Ambassadors, Malaysia’s Badminton Men Double Players Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun. Children from Rumah Amal Kasih, an orphanage in Sabah enjoyed the unique opportunity to learn directly from Malaysia’s top athletes, receiving hands-on tips and techniques to elevate their badminton skills.

Rumah Victory, an orphanage in Puchong was another beneficiary, where children learned and played badminton under the guidance of Coach Kwan Yoke Meng, a former badminton player and coach in Malaysia. In a special highlight, the children performed a symbolic torch-passing ceremony as part of the Grand Prix Final in Kuala Lumpur.

The Road to NCT Grand Prix Final was a prestigious event graced by Minister of Communications YB Tuan Ahmad Fahmi, Assistant General Secretary of the Badminton Association of Malaysia Mr. Mohd Taupik Haji Hussain, and other VIPs, marking a significant milestone for the event. Held from 30 May to 2 June 2024, the championship brought all state champions together for the ultimate match. As part of its commitment to community empowerment, NCT Alliance extended financial support to underprivileged young athletes from the B40 community in Sabah, fully sponsoring their travel to Kuala Lumpur so they could compete in the final. In addition, the winners earned a fully sponsored trip to Paris, France for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch the live badminton tournament at the 2024 Olympic Games.

The young finalists took a group photo with Malaysia flag and Road to Paris banner at the 2024 Olympic Paris Games.
