BYOB Ampang is a detergent refilling station, providing biodegradable and organic detergents under The Life Refill Centre Plt.
Their biodegradable detergents are made locally and the organic range is imported from Australia and certified organic. BYOB Ampang has a wide range of detergents for everything from laundry, kitchen, personal care, floor cleaners to disinfectants, car care and even pet shampoo.
Plastic bottles can last up to 450 years and research has shown that only 9% of plastic wastes in the world are recycled. By having a refilling station, it allows the public to take part in caring for the environment. All we have to do is just refill our used detergent bottles and we can save costs, while also saving the environment.
Malaysia has an estimated 8 million households, and every household has around 3 to 12 types of detergents. By multiplying these numbers, we can imagine the amount of plastic used. Now, imagine if we reuse all of the bottles! We will then have reduced plastic waste significantly.
In 2016, The Life Refill Centre Plt decided to pitch for a spot in the Malaysian Global Innovation Centre’s (MaGIC) Social Enterprise Cohort 2 becoming amongst the top 6% of a few hundred applicants to be selected for the programme.
BYOB Ampang is managed by Susan Ooi. A vegan with four children who wants to help with the environment. Being an animal lover, she has seen how plastic pollution affects animals and marine life. With the hope that with the setting up of the detergent refilling station, she can help to educate the public on the power we have in reducing pollution.
