Since 2022, TDM Berhad (“TDM” or “Group”) through its plantation subsidiary, TDM Plantation Sdn. Bhd. (TDMP), has proudly collaborated with Nestlé Malaysia on the “Projek RELeaf” initiative—a reforestation project aimed at creating sustainable green spaces and enhancing biodiversity across Terengganu. Reflecting both companies’ shared commitment to climate action, the partnership took a significant step forward in 2024 when numerous dedicated volunteers from the TDM Group and Nestlé Care joined forces to plant 1,000 trees at Ladang Tayor in Setiu, Terengganu.
Projek RELeaf is not only an expression of TDMP’s commitment to environmental stewardship but also a strategic initiative aligned with the UNSDGs Goal 13: Climate Action. By planting trees, TDMP and Nestlé Malaysia aim to offset carbon emissions, mitigate the adverse effects of climate change and contribute directly to building a more sustainable ecosystem. These efforts are especially crucial for restoring ecological balance in areas impacted by agricultural activities, such as palm oil estates, where increased biodiversity supports a more resilient environment. Together, these initiatives showcase a holistic approach to environmental responsibility and community impact.
Beyond climate action, Projek RELeaf supports biodiversity by establishing conservation zones within TDMP’s palm oil plantations. This reforestation effort focuses on introducing and safeguarding native tree species, which create vital habitats for local wildlife and enhance soil quality. By integrating these conservation areas, TDMP actively promotes biodiversity, fostering a more balanced and resilient natural environment. Projek RELeaf underscores TDM’s mission to minimise ecological impact while contributing to Malaysia’s broader environmental goals.
In 2023, Projek RELeaf took another leap toward environmental sustainability with the planting of an additional 2,000 trees at Ladang Jernih, TDMP’s site in Kemaman, Terengganu. This achievement is part of Nestlé Malaysia’s ambitious target to plant one million trees, and the efforts in Terengganu have been a key contribution. Each tree planted brings Nestlé Malaysia closer to its goal, demonstrating the power of corporate collaborations in creating positive environmental impacts.
