USANA Foundation Brings Hope: Flood Relief for 147 Families in Need

Dec 9, 2024 | CSR Stories

In times of adversity, true strength lies in the ability to uplift others. USANA Foundation has once again demonstrated the transformative power of corporate social responsibility (CSR) with two impactful initiatives that bring hope to underprivileged communities and empower them for a brighter future.

In October 2024, as monsoon rains wreaked havoc across Kedah, severe flooding disrupted the lives of countless families. Recognising the urgency of the situation, USANA Foundation swiftly mobilised its Flood Relief Project, targeting the worst-affected areas of Sik and Baling.

On 7 November 2024, a dedicated team of 10 volunteers arrived in Baling to distribute food bags filled with essential items worth RM36,300. These included food staples, baby formula, and diapers for both infants and adults, providing vital support to 147 families. Each food bag was not only a source of sustenance but also a powerful message of solidarity and hope.

“For the families we met, these bags represented more than food—they symbolised a helping hand and the assurance that they are not alone,” shared a USANA Foundation volunteer. The smiles and gratitude of recipients served as a poignant reminder that acts of kindness, no matter the size, create ripples of positive change.

Champions Camp: Empowering the Underprivileged Through Self-Reliance

USANA Foundation’s CSR efforts go beyond immediate aid, focusing on sustainable solutions that empower communities. On 15 November 2024, the Foundation hosted the Champions Camp at Vinashini Welfare Association, designed to equip underprivileged individuals with tools for self-reliance.

At the heart of the camp was the introduction of the innovative USANA Garden Tower. “These 15 durable garden towers can accommodate six types of plants, enabling residents to grow their own produce, enhancing food security and fostering independence,” said Sabrina Khoo, General Manager of USANA Malaysia.

Participants engaged in hands-on planting sessions, learning valuable skills to grow their own vegetables and potentially earn income by selling the harvest. The camp’s agenda also included group stretching sessions, fostering a sense of community and joy.

In addition to the garden towers, USANA Foundation provided two months’ worth of nutritious food and daily necessities valued at RM40,800, as well as USANA Baby Products worth RM23,718, to support the welfare association’s 54 residents. Volunteers further contributed by cleaning the home garden, trimming trees, and clearing wilted plants, ensuring the sustainability of this initiative.

These initiatives highlight USANA Foundation’s unwavering commitment to bridging gaps and creating a stronger, healthier society. By addressing immediate needs and fostering long-term self-reliance, the Foundation exemplifies CSR that not only uplifts communities but also empowers them for the future.

As the holiday season draws near, USANA Foundation’s dedication to spreading hope and making meaningful changes remains steadfast. Through collective efforts, they continue to inspire others, proving that every act of kindness, no matter how small, has the power to transform lives.
