L’OCCITANE Malaysia has continued to support biodiversity conservation initiatives that help restore ecosystems and strengthen the connection between people and nature. Through its collaboration with the Global Environment Centre (GEC), with engagement of Sabah Forestry Department and local community in Beaufort Sabah, a RM70,000 contribution has been supporting the planting of 350 sago palms, helping to restore local habitats, promoting biodiversity protection and contributing to healthier and more resilient ecosystems.
The contribution reflects L’OCCITANE Malaysia’s approach to biodiversity, recognising that protecting nature can also create positive outcomes for local communities. The project is sourcing saplings from tree nurseries operated by local communities, providing income opportunities while encouraging greater community participation in environmental restoration.

As the palms mature, they will contribute to habitat restoration and support local biodiversity, while also provide potential future sources of food and raw materials for by-product production. This creates a longer-term connection between ecosystem regeneration, biodiversity and community well-being.
The collaboration with GEC forms part of L’OCCITANE Malaysia’s broader efforts to protect and regenerate nature as part of its People & Planet approach. Through its purpose of Crafting Life Ties, the brand seeks to nurture stronger and more meaningful relationships between people and the natural world.
By bringing together biodiversity restoration, community participation and livelihood opportunities, the initiative demonstrates how responsible action can contribute to both environmental and social well-being. Through continued partnerships and investment in nature-based projects, L’OCCITANE Malaysia is contributing to a future where people and planet can thrive together.
