In a concerted effort to raise awareness about hunger and advocate for sustainable communities, Biocon Sdn Bhd, in partnership with Kechara Food Bank, initiated Project Belly-Laugh. This comprehensive dry food collection campaign was rolled out across the company with the specific aim of amassing essential food supplies for underprivileged families residing in Kampung Orang Asli, located in Sungai Temon, Johor.
Under the overarching theme “Leave No One Behind,” a well-coordinated effort was orchestrated to gather dry food essentials for 75 families in the village. Remarkably, significant contributions were received from a variety of sources, including individuals, departments, the families and associates of Biocon employees, Biocon’s contractors, vendors, and other generous benefactors, all of whom played pivotal roles in realising this admirable mission.
At the culmination of the collection drive, it was revealed that the predetermined targets were surpassed by over 100% for each item, ensuring a substantial benefit for the families in need. This accomplishment underscores the strength of a unified vision and unwavering dedication to a shared objective, with the positive impact on numerous lives serving as the ultimate measure of success.
Subsequently, the accumulated dry food provisions were delivered to the villagers by Biocon’s volunteers, who were privileged to visit them in their homes in the idyllic village setting.
