CSR Malaysia Touches the Lives of Special Needs Children

Jun 18, 2025 | CSR Stories

As part of its ongoing commitment to community outreach, CSR Malaysia, a KDN-approved social project and publication, recently conducted a meaningful visit to Persatuan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Insan (PKKII). This non-profit organisation, established in 1998 and currently located in Happy Garden, Kuala Lumpur, cares for children with various special needs including autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and learning disabilities.

This initiative marked another of CSR Malaysia’s ongoing home visits for the year, part of its charity home visit programme aimed at connecting with and supporting underprivileged communities. Staying true to its mission of serving the needy, the CSR Malaysia team set out not just to donate, but to engage, listen and to uplift the lives of the underprivileged.

Upon arrival, the team was warmly welcomed by the residents. Bright smiles, friendly waves and genuine enthusiasm filled the air. Many residents eagerly assisted in carrying in the team’s boxes of gifts and pizzas—a small gesture that reflected the mutual spirit of kindness shared throughout the day.

PKKII currently houses 77 children, most of whom have been under its care from a young age. The children come from various backgrounds, including single-parent homes and orphaned situations. Speaking to the dedicated staff, the CSR Malaysia team gained a deeper understanding of the daily challenges and tireless efforts involved in caring for the children.

To foster meaningful interaction, the visit included a DIY keychain painting activity which was an immediate hit with the residents. The children’s creativity shone through, with one resident impressively completing 11 hand-painted keychains in under an hour, excited to share them with his friends and teachers. Another young artist proudly shared his own sketches, eventually gifting a signed drawing to one of the team members—a touching moment that left a lasting impression.

Lunch was a simple yet joyous affair, as the team handed out pizzas and drinks. It was during this time that some of the most memorable moments unfolded: children helping one another with their meals, sharing laughter and displaying remarkable empathy and care.

Reflecting on the experience, one CSR Malaysia team member shared, “Lots of people visit homes with expensive gifts, but often what the children truly want is love, friendship and care.” This sentiment echoed the deeper purpose of the visit: to create genuine human connection beyond material support.

The visit to PKKII served as a heartfelt reminder of the strength, resilience and warmth that can be found in even the most challenging circumstances. CSR Malaysia remains committed to continuing its outreach efforts, reaffirming that Corporate Social Responsibility is not just about giving—it’s about being present, listening and creating lasting impacts on human lives.
