Edaran Otomobil Nasional (EON) Berhad continues to advance its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) agenda through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that deliver sustainable and measurable impact. In support of equitable energy access, EON partnered with SOLS Foundation to provide clean, renewable electricity to Orang Asli communities living beyond the reach of Malaysia’s national power grid.
An estimated 1.5 million individuals nationwide remain without reliable access to electricity, with many rural communities dependent on diesel generators or alternative non-renewable energy sources. Through the installation of pico solar systems, this initiative addresses both social and environmental challenges by improving quality of life while reducing carbon emissions and fuel dependency.

The collaboration began in 2023 at Pos Lemoi, Ringlet, Cameron Highlands, where EON provided logistical support for the transportation and installation of solar equipment. As one of the nation’s largest multi-brand automotive dealership groups, EON leveraged its operational capabilities to facilitate access to remote areas while also distributing essential grocery packs to support immediate community needs. This partnership reflects SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, demonstrating the effectiveness of cross-sector collaboration.
In 2024, the initiative expanded to Kampung Orang Asli Binjai, Rompin, Pahang, where eight EON volunteers supported the installation of solar systems for 33 households, benefitting more than 116 residents. The provision of stable and clean energy enhanced household safety, improved living conditions and enabled schoolchildren to study after dark. By replacing diesel generators, the initiative also contributed to environmental sustainability, aligning with SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy.
Complementing the energy installations, EON distributed EON Care Packs containing essential food items and children’s toys. This component addressed short-term food security concerns and supported community well-being, in line with SDG 2: Zero Hunger.

In 2025, the programme reached Kampung Redip, Pos Hau, Gua Musang, Kelantan, a remote settlement located approximately 30 kilometres from the nearest main road and accessible only via challenging terrain. The village comprises 227 residents from 40 families, many of whom rely on diesel generators costing up to RM8 per hour, underscoring the need for sustainable energy solutions. During the visit, EON also donated pre-loved clothing collected from employees, supporting SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production through reuse and waste reduction.
The programme also reflects EON’s commitment to inclusive participation. The 2025 initiative involved 15 volunteers, comprising both male and female staff from EON headquarters and subsidiaries, supporting SDG 5: Gender Equality and SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities.
Throughout the programme, Mitsubishi Triton and Isuzu D-Max pickup trucks were utilised to transport equipment safely, demonstrating operational reliability in demanding conditions.
EON Berhad, through this ongoing collaboration with SOLS Foundation, continues to support communities and reaffirm its belief that access to clean energy is not a privilege, but a basic foundation for a better future.
