Maybank and Kampung Kasipillay Community Team Up

Not too long ago, about 500 volunteers from Kampung Kasipillay residents and Maybank employees took part in river clean-up and educational activities. The event was organised under the umbrella of River of Life Public Outreach Programme (ROLPOP) Phase 5 in partnership with Maybank Group Risk, Kampung Kasipillay community, Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and Global Environment Centre (GEC).

River of Life Public Outreach Program (ROLPOP) is spearheaded by Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) Malaysia and targets to improve the attitude and behavior of stakeholders within the River of Life area towards river care and preservation in order to improve water quality and reduce pollution.

The event was held to raise awareness among the local community and Maybankers on the importance of protecting river from pollutions and inculcate best river management practices that will lead to improved river water quality in Batu River. Activities undertaken included cleaning the river and existing drainage system, river walk path beautification, upgrading of the river railing system as well as river education and monitoring activities. The event was officiated by Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Haji Md. Nasir Bin Md. Noh, Deputy Director General I, DID Malaysia who also participated in the clean-up activity.
