Hikers at the popular Bukit Kutu trail in Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor now have a safer, more comfortable hiking experience, thanks to Yayasan MR D.I.Y [MR D.I.Y Foundation].
The Foundation, with the help of teams from Jabatan Perhutanan, Malim Gunung Perhutanan Selangor, and 30 volunteers, installed nine signages along the Bukit Kutu hiking trail checkpoints, and also cleaned up the trail, ensuring it remained safe for hikers.
Thanking the participants for coming together to make the effort a success, Yayasan MR D.I.Y.’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zaleha Mohd Mydin said “Our priority as the philantrophic arm of Malaysia’s largest home improvement retailer, MR D.I.Y. Group, is to have a positive impact on the lives of Malaysians; to be a good neighbour. One of the ways we are doing this is by ensuring that popular recreational spots are well maintained, so they can be enjoyed by many.”
She added, “Bukit Kutu is a popular hiking trail, a must amongst Malaysian hikers. Today’s effort, which is part of MR D.I.Y’s on-going ‘Jiran Sejati, Sentiasa Di Sisi’ initiative, aims to provide Bukit Kutu hikers with a safe, clean, and well-sign-posted environment. We hope this will encourage more Malaysians to adopt a healthy lifestyle and foster a healthier Malaysia.”
Zaleha also thanked Jabatan Perhutanan and Malim Gunung Perhutanan Selangor for guiding the Foundation’s volunteers throughout the programme.
Yayasan MR D.I.Y. was established in June 2023 to manage the MR D.I.Y Group’s community impact activities, which include programmes encompassing environmental protection, health and well-being, capacity-building and development, as well as promoting Malaysia’s rich arts and culture. In 2023, the Foundation carried out 175 programmes, positively impacting over 58,000 individuals. It was also awarded the Foundation of the Year, [Home Improvement Retailer] in Outstanding Community Spirit Award by CSR Malaysia at the Sustainability & CSR Awards 2024.
